ALS as a Qualifying Condition
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting motor neurons. ALS is a qualifying condition for the NJ Medical Marijuana Program, and PremierMD provides expedited evaluation for ALS patients in recognition of the progressive nature of the disease.
While cannabis does not alter the course of ALS, it can substantially improve quality of life by addressing multiple debilitating symptoms simultaneously.
Symptoms Cannabis May Help
- Muscle cramping and fasciculations
- Spasticity
- Pain
- Difficulty sleeping
- Appetite loss and weight management
- Depression and anxiety related to diagnosis
